Colors of Spring Blog Hop

Ok, so it's still my birthday month and my actual birthday today as I am writing this, so I finished off the month with one last birthday card.  I used My Digital Studio's color combo selector to find a spring palette and this is what it came up with:

I have to smile when I see this card, only because it speaks truth!  I think only one candle will suffice from know on--we don't need to get the fire extinguisher out in order to put out the flames!

I used Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White cardstock; Lucky Limeade ruffled ribbon; Sycamore Street DSP; Tempting Turquoise classic ink pad, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade markers; Dazzling Details glitter; clear embossing powder; Oval Framelits; Color spritzer.  Our new classic ink pads are so juicy that you can literally pour embossing powder on the dye ink and heat it. You will get the same look as if you used pigment inks.

I have to thank all of you who have sent, texted, emailed and called with your birthday wishes, they were all wonderful!  I've had a wonderful birthday!

Make sure to visit all the other blog hoppers, and please leave comments so we know that you enjoy it!

Sweet Sabbath

Many of you know that I am a singer.  In fact, I started singing before I could talk!  One day, it is my dream to try out for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  I don't know that I could ever be in the choir (it is a lot of work) but I would love to audition.  When I saw this video, I was so tickled for this guy, I couldn't help but smile!  He certainly knows a little bit about conducting a large choir/orchestra, so I'm sure it was pure heaven for him to be up there conducting the most famous choir in the world!  I hope your Sabbath has been beautiful.

Birthday Card, take 4

We're counting down to the end of February...well at least I am, because that is my birthday!  And no, I was not close to being a leap year baby, the year I was born wasn't even a leap year.  I seem to get that question a lot!  So today I'm posting a fun card made with the darling Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper that you can get for FREE with a qualifying Sale-a-Bration order ($50).  I LOVE these colors together!  They are so YUMMY!  I used the new Best of Birthday 25th Anniversary set that will be available until March 2014, so there's plenty of time, but you might want to get each of the "Best Of" stamp sets that will be rolled out each month, so keep your eyes open for all the cuteness.  I used the Big Shot to emboss the Perfect Polka Dots and the Peekaboo Frames Bigz L die for the frame (I cut off the little "door" that is on the front of the frame).  To top it off, used my blender pen to add a bit of color to the stamp and tied a ribbon with Crumb Cake seam binding.  You can find all of these items on my website.

It's pretty windy here in Vegas today. But the high is going to be in the 60's! YAY!
Hope your day is happy!

Good Times, Good Friends

Here's my entry for this weeks MDS Monday challenge and Mydgitalstudio.net challenge.
MDSM 7 sketch

This weeks MDSM sketch is pretty basic, but I made just a few changes.  Digital scrapbooking is still a struggle for me, but it's better when I have a sketch to work from.  The Mydigitalstudio.net challenge is "free fonts" and I used two free fonts on this page.  The first one is Simply Glamorous and the second one is CK Jot.  I also used Natural Composition overlay (one of my favorites), stitching from Downtown Grunge, brads, Urban Oasis DSP, Urban Garden DSP, satin ribbon, flag from A Split Second.  I used the My Digital Studio color combo selector and because Livvi was wearing her Real Red dress, I clicked on Real Red and this combo was one of the options.

This was my son's very first dance.  They had a great time at the dance and went and played glow in the dark dodge ball after the dance (each couple had matching "glow" shirts).  Too bad they didn't have any photos of that, they said they had a blast!!

Birthday Card, Take 3

I took a bit of a break from challenges for a few weeks, but this week I decided to hit two birds with one stone and do a challenge birthday card.  The Mydigitalstudio.net challenge was Sale-a-bration 2013, using any of the FREE products available during SAB.  I made it a birthday card because of my birthday month, this month.  The ribbon, button, DSP, and "Happy Birthday" stamp brush are all from the One Big Sale-a-Bration disk and the Honeycomb overlay is available in the Twitterpated digital kit.  I love the colors of the Sycamore Street DSP, don't you?
Make sure you check out Mydigitalstudio.net and see all the fun projects!

My Digital Studio Video--Lots of Love

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope you are all enjoying this "holiday" or otherwise know as "Single awareness day"!  I've had my favorite valentine for 24 years now, and although we do acknowledge that it's Valentine's day and we always seem to do a little something for each other, I try to let him know EVERY DAY that he is my "Valentine"!  He is such a great guy and I'm thankful for him every day!
Now, on to the video!  I had several people ask if I would do a video on how I made my Lots of Love poster I have in my entry way, so here you go!  Very quick explanation and I only used 3 stamps!  I hope you can hear, I tend to mumble when I'm creating!  So sorry!  Let me know if there are any techniques or tools you would like to see videos on, I will do my best to add them to my list!  Enjoy!
Just know that you are ALL loved!  Have a wonderful day!

My Digital Studio Video--Adding Stitching to letters

I'm a little bit behind on my videos, I've had this one mostly complete for a few weeks, it's just taken me a long time to add the voiceover on it and upload it to YouTube, sorry!  Anyway, this video is from my Merry Christmas scrapbook page I did last month.  I added stitching to the letters using the freeform line feature in the Design Center.  This is such a great tool!  Make sure you get your own copy of My Digital Studio 2 here and follow along!  Enjoy!

I'd love to see what you come up with using this fun tool!  Send me a link and I'll post a comment on your page!

Love One Another...One Person at a Time

Valentine's day is this week and although I love to show my love to those around me, sometimes I think that "Valentine's day" is just a ploy made up by the candy and flower companies to bring in more money.  I think it's more important to show people all around us that we love them all the time and not just give them flowers or gifts or things that will not last.  If we truly love others we will serve them like the Savior did, not because we want something in return.  Show your family how much you love them by doing something nice for them, that will mean more to them than any rose or piece of chocolate ever would.  I loved this story about serving others around us--we don't have to do it all, but we can make a difference...one person at a time!
Have a beautiful Sabbath!

More Best of Birthdays

Here's the second card made with the limited edition Best of Birthdays stamp set!  This is a small 3 x 3 card done on Crumb Cake and Real Red cardstock with white embossing powder and some white gel pen stitching.  I stamped the gift and sentiment in white craft ink and embossed in white embossing powder, layered the Crumb Cake and crumbled the top layer and distressed the edges.  On a scrap piece of Real Red cardstock, I embossed and then cut out the image and glued it on the Crumb Cake.  Just a fun pop of color on a little note card!  This is still available along with the Best of Love stamp set for February.  If you are interested in hosting a workshop, I would be happy to work with you to tailor a workshop to fit with the needs of your friends and family.

Lots of birthdays to celebrate this month!

My Digital Studio video--Faux Washi Tape

Sorry it's taken me so long to post this video.  I had it mostly done a few weeks ago, but with the loss of my step-mom, everything went on the back burner.  So here is the video that some of you were asking about: how to make faux washi tape like I had on my christmas scrapbook page.

I hope you enjoy this video, I have one more to come this week, so check back often.  Thanks for watching!

Sweet Sabbath

I am especially grateful for this Sabbath Day!  It's been a very long, sad/happy week and I am looking forward to the love and warmth I feel when I am with my ward family.  The prayers offered on my family's behalf have comforted me, calmed me, and strengthened me.
I spent 4 days this week in St. George, in the farthest Southwest corner of Utah.  Every time I drive into Utah and see the beautiful red rocks and mesas I am still amazed.  All over Utah there is spectacular scenery, but in Southern Utah, you just can't deny that God created all this loveliness.  It really earns the nickname "Color Country"!  I hope you enjoy the music and scenery in this video.
Have a beautiful Sabbath!

Lots More Love

Ok, so I don't know about you, but I get bored really quick with the decorations around my house--I have to change things up occasionally.  Last year, I made my Love one Another poster and I actually had it up most of the year, at least until Halloween.  So, I decided I would do something different.  This is what I came up with...
Download
I used three digital components: Lots of Love stamp, Bunch of Backgrounds overlay, and Naturals Composition overlay.  I chose the color of the background using the HSB color picker because I was trying for a certain color of wood (teak).  It's not exact, but I think it goes pretty well with our furnishings, though I think eventually I will get a different frame. I designed it as a 5 x 7 but I printed it as a 16 x 20 poster.  I have to admit, it turned out better than I thought it would!!

Wishing you lots of love!
