MDS Blog Hop--Color Match

Sorry for the lack of posts but I have been a bit busy and have been out of town.  Now that I'm back, I'm ready to get back to creating!  When I was thinking about this project, I remembered a few pins from Pinterest that I was thinking about CASE'ing in MDS.  The one I chose was this fun, colorful card by Michelle.  I loved the vivid color of the stripes along with the contrast of the black and white.  I wanted to use a little different color combination so I went to my trusty Pinterest Color Combos board and found a light, springy color combo that I felt would go well with my project.  The only issue was that the color palette only had 6 colors and I had 8 strips.  Match Color tool to the rescue!!
I added the flower photo with the color swatches just for the color match (it needs to be somewhere on your project), and was deleted when I was done. I hope the instructions were helpful.  Now for the finished project...
I added the sentiment along with the faux embossed background.  I think when this comes back from the printer, I will add some rhinestones to make it extra pretty.

Now it's time to hop to the rest of my friends--leave a comment, they love them!
I love to read your comments and questions, so feel free!

Polka Dot Happiness!

I love my Pinterest boards!  I really get all kinds of inspiration from so many different pins, not necessarily for the reasons they were pinned!  Take this one for example:

I think this polka dot purse is completely adorable so I pinned it in my "What to wear" board, and of course it is now sold out,  but I knew I could take the pattern and make a fun card out of it. You can never have too much happy!
Where do you find your inspiration? Pinterest? Magazines? Your closet?  Inspiration is everywhere, you just need to look for it!

Create something fun today!

MDS Blog Hop--What do you LOVE about MDS?

I LOVE MDS! I know that's quite a shock to many of you! {wink} You may not know that the reason I purchased MDS was so that I could make home decor items, not really to scrapbook.  Even though I have broadened my horizons and use MDS for more than what I bought it for, home decor is still my favorite thing to use it for.
Now, if you promise not to tell my husband, I'll share my Valentine's Day gift for him!
I took one of our wedding photos and added one of my favorite sayings.  I love that I can change the photo to black and white or sepia with just a click.  I only added a frame from Downtown Grunge and background from Natural Composition Overlay.  It was very simple, but the sentiment is so sweet and tender.  David is my best friend and I am blessed to be his wife.  We have been together for almost 25 years and recently celebrated our 23rd anniversary. We are moving in to a new phase of life soon and I'm looking forward to whatever the future may bring.

Make sure you hop through all of my friend's blogs--they have some great projects to share.
Happy Valentine's Day!

You're the Best...Thank You!

I have a confession, I'm not a good "thank you" note sender!  Not that I'm not grateful, I'd just rather call someone on the phone or thank them in person.  I'm trying to do better, but I think it will always be a struggle.  So, with that said, I made a thank you card to send to a friend.  The background was made with the Arrows embossing folder, I stamped and cut out the washi tape strips sentiment from Tape It  and Hello, Lovely stamp sets. I added some baker's twine, glimmer paper and rhinestones to finish it off.
No matter whether you are a thank you note kind of person or more like me, remember to thank someone today!

Chalk Talk Chevron Box

New project today...a gift box!  It's always nice to have a box ready for gift giving and the matching tag is the perfect pairing.  I was trying to decide how to attach my Chalk Talk tag besides the regular way of adding it to the ribbon, so the gears in my brain started grinding and I came up with this little "knob" type hanger--crazy, eh?  I used the fun Coastal Cabana Boutique Details button, but it's flat on the back, so my fix was to glue a Vintage Faceted Designer button on the back to lift it up off the 1 1/4" burlap ribbon.  I love the color combo, I see it everywhere right now.  The new Big Wish stamp set looks good with the Simply Stars and Gorgeous Grunge. I added a little square of the Fresh Prints DSP to coordinate with the Chevron embossed box.

I have a few ideas of things that can go inside this fun box, can anyone say "MORE STAMPS"?

Flower Shop Blues

Back in September, I went to St. George, Utah to Jill's lovely stamp camp/gathering and we made a darling card!  I think Jill said she got the idea from one of the hundreds of swaps from convention, so I don't know who the original designer was (message me if you know, so I can give the proper credit!) Anyway, I LOVE this card and have made it on several occasions.  I had blank one left over from another project so I added a sweet sentiment for my friend who lost her mother and added a few In-color dahlias for a bit more dimension.   I used the Flower Shop bundle and the Honeycomb embossing folder.
Make something beautiful for someone today!

We Create Blog Hop--Sale-a-brate!

If you didn't know already, it's time to Sale-a-brate!  Sale-a-bration started Tuesday and goes through March 31 this year. There are so many cute things you can get for FREE with a qualifying order, and much of what is in the Sale-a-bration catalog will go buh-bye after the promotion is over, so don't wait.
My card is a CASE of Elisabeth Bellville's card.  I just loved the layout, so I used the new Petal Parade set from the SAB catalog along with the fun Decorative Dots embossing folder (my favorite!!).  I am really starting to love all the gold accents in the Occasions catalog, so I added the gold baker's twine and gold foil sheet as well as the fun gold sequin trim to add just a bit more bling to the gold Stampin' Emboss powder. And oops... I forgot that my gold marker didn't carry over into the new catalog, sorry.  Ya think that's too much gold?
Time to hop over to Michelle and see which fun Sale-a-bration product she used (there's so many to choose from).

I've had a bit of extra time to create, so I will be post a few new projects this week, YAY!!
